Honōguma (ホノーグマ) is an unreleased Pokémon revealed prior to the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver.

In the Nintendo Space World 1997 demo of Pocket Monsters 2, Honōguma was available as a starter Pokémon replacing Cyndaquil. Honōguma was a fire type Pokémon. It was randomly assigned at level 8 and knew the moves Ember, Scratch and Leer. The player also had a chance of receiving Happa or Kurusu. Honōguma appears as a fire bear Pokémon. It slightly resembles Pikachu

Etymology

A combination of the kanji 炎 for "flame", and 熊 for "bear".

Honoguma also means guardian bear.
